Snowy morning here today. Not enough to close schools and LIBRARIES (rats!) but enough to gum things up a bit.
Oh yes. We are into THAT time of year.

Terrible scare Sunday night when I returned home from my weekend trip. As Mr. Kathie was helping me unload and get my gear in the house, Lucy squirted out of the door. She circled around us for a bit and then started running, circling the very huge meadow that is our back yard.
Then she was gone.
We both ran and got flashlights and took off after her. But it was a stormy night, sleeting, snowing, blowing hard. Slow going--the yard was full of the kind of crusty snow where walking is hampered because every footstep breaks through the snow. And worst of all it was pitch dark.
I thought she was a goner.
Happy end to the story--Mr. Kathie caught up with her about an hour later in a neighbor's yard two streets over. Though Lucy didn't know it, she was headed straight for the 55 mile per hour county highway. And there she would REALLY have been a goner.
Tops on the agenda: working on the concept of getting Lucy to pay attention and COME when she's called.

Oh! I'm so glad Lucy's back safe. Just hearing the story makes me feel anxious. Those Terriers really do like to chase, and go so crazy in the snow!
Give her a big hug from me.
terrible weather - why would Lucy want to go play out in that? Screwy girl. glad she's home safe.
Lovely snow pictures. It's been so warm so far I'd almost fooled myself into thinking the winter weather would never come. We're expecting an ice storm this weekend. Stay warm.
The photos are lovely. When Maggie was that age, she loved to sneak out of the door and run as fast as she could. I am happy there was a happy ending.
our snow is gone... it isn't even very cold. everything's odd...
I'm happy you found your Lucy, is she very young?
Oh I am so glad Lucy is ok! And of course it was on a really yucky night! Your pics of the snow are so pretty though! We got it yesterday too!
I'm glad you found Lucy -- maybe she was just having fun playing in stuff that camoflages her so well? Love the Sue Spargo inspiration as well. I'm with you on the not liking too much of the flowers (though, I am tempted by the way too cute at times) but her stuff does sing. I've seen it done in bright cottons as well -- yummy!
Whew! So glad Lucy was found, safe and sound. I know from personal experience how frightening that kind of thing can be. Good luck with her training!
