Wrong!
The monsoon we've been enduring for the last week or so continued unabated, and made for a white-knuckle drive both to and from Kara's house, with driving rain, high winds, tree branches skittering across the road, and a steep and partly washed out gravel driveway.
But Kara's home is gorgeous--woodwork and built-ins are a Craftsman delight, with great antiques and artwork accenting everything.

And that wooded lakeside setting--not even a dark and stormy night can diminish the natural beauty.Maybe someday I'll get back there when it's not raining hammer handles.
Casey brought show and tell--another of her mask quilts.

Sue also had a finished Lodde's Mill, fresh from the long-arm machine artistry of Marge West. It looks great but my camera wasn't fast enough.
And finally--dessert: light chocolate cake cubes, whipped cream, cherries, and toasted almonds. Beautiful presentation, but the company was the thing that will make it all a memorable evening.

Ohhh heavens, that does sound like a white knuckled ride! I'm glad it was worth it in the end. The mask quilt is amazing!

Love the mask quilt! Loved all the pics & happy faces. Lucky you all drove safely.
The weather sounds horrible (I commiserate on the rain - I'm tired of it too) but what a gorgeous house and incredibly cool friends.
Ughh, I am soooo sick of the rain too! Our yard is just one big mush! Looks like you all had wonderful food and a fun time visiting!
